We start our sailing trip from Lavrio and sail first to Kea. In the large bay of Agios Nikolaos there are two corners, which offer themselves as moorings. Vourkari consists of a long row of houses with some restaurants and bars. We used to only stay here. As more and more large motor yachts moor in this town from year to year and the prices in the restaurants have adjusted to the standard, we now prefer to go to Korissia, the ferry port of the island. Here is the value for money in the taverns better and there are good supply options.
The next day we sail south along the coast. Kythnos and here the place Loutra we head to. In the past, the hot thermal springs were the destination of spa guests. Some buildings go back to Greece’s first king, Otto von Bayern. Today, Loutra seems rather sleepy. The port, which is quite successful, attracts a number of yachtsmen, which locals like to see.
Also in the next town – Foinikas on Syros – a lot has happened for the yacht tourism. The pier, which only protects from wind from the north, has been extended and now offers more berths. There are also showers and toilets. Otherwise, the whole island is rather on the edge of tourist crowds.
Very lonely and only opening up to the yacht tourist, the next day our anchorage on the island Rineia shows up. Only a few goats and small agricultural buildings we find ashore. Delos can join for a visit. In antiquity, this place was a political and religious center beyond the Cyclades. Numerous ruins still bear witness to this time. We cannot stay here overnight. Therefore we sail on to Paros. Here we can lie at anchor, or visit the marina of Naoussa, before the end of the journey – to Naxos island. Hop Off Naxos Island.
